Current EventsImportant Update Oct. 16, 2020The Club is NOT open on Fridays as of yet. We are waiting for the Senior Center to meet during the week and how the re-opening of the state effects the spread of infections. In the meantime, we do host Blitz every Friday at 7:30 on chess.com and ask you to join us there as well as the Blitz offered by Missouri State University's club on Mondays. The March-May 2020 OutPost is out. This issue offers several articles and a tribute Marty Phillips who sadly passed-away earlier this year.
Congrats to Afzal Chowdhury taking first in the 4th Annual National Chess Day Blitz Tournament held October 12, 2019 with a 5.5/7 score. 2nd goes to Marty Phillips at 5/7 on tiebreaks with Brian Rude and Daniel Todd also at 5/7. (See our cover photo of the participants).

Formerly known as the Springfield Park Board Chess Club
Our former name dates back to the early 1970s, when, on a hand shake, the founders of the Club and the Park Board agreed to allow the Club to meet at various Park Board facilities. We are NOT affiliated with any Park Board other than where we meet, the Ray Kelly Park, and in the Southside Senior Center. Our mission is to promote chess in the entire SW Missouri area via our Club, newsletter, and services.
