This game was annotated in the Missouri Chess Bulletin Volume 17, Number 2 Summer 1990 by Ken Jones. Of note is Ken's comment to Mike's 18... Qd7(?) 19. Rad1?? when he says, "I could still stir the pot with 19. bxc5!? Bxc5? 20. d4! exd4 21. Bb5, hence he would have to try 19...Na4 20. d4 when suddenly I feel healthy again!" Both these players have played at the Springfield Club. And this game was played in Springfield July 29, 1990 at the Missouri Open hosted by the club that year. There were 115 particpants that year and 8 players were rated 2300 or above! Mark Trevor Smith was the highest placed player finishing 22nd at 3.5.
